Part-Time Accounting Manager
Position Overview
The Corner Table is seeking a detail-oriented, trustworthy, and experienced Part-Time Accounting Manager to oversee day-to-day accounting operations for our growing nonprofit organization.
This position will lead the implementation of QuickBooks Online, manage ongoing accounting functions, and serve as the organization’s primary internal accounting and financial reporting resource. The Accounting Manager will work collaboratively with the Executive Director, Finance Committee, Board leadership, and external CPA firm to maintain and enhance financial systems, procedures, and internal controls that support strong stewardship and organizational growth.
This role is ideal for an experienced accounting professional seeking flexible, part-time work in a mission-driven environment who enjoys building strong financial systems that support long-term impact.
Estimated Hours: 15–20 hours per week (additional hours may be needed during initial QuickBooks implementation and fiscal year-end)
Compensation: Up to $20,000 annually
Primary Responsibilities
QuickBooks Online Implementation & Financial Systems
Lead setup and implementation of QuickBooks Online
Develop and maintain the chart of accounts in coordination with the external CPA
Partner with leadership to design and implement efficient accounting workflows, procedures, and internal controls
Build scalable financial systems that support organizational growth and long-term sustainability
Ensure accurate, organized, and audit-ready financial records from the start
Serve as the primary internal resource for maintaining and improving accounting systems and processes
Ongoing Accounting Operations
Manage and maintain the general ledger, ensuring accurate and timely recording of all financial activity
Process, track, and oversee accounts payable, including vendor invoices, approvals, coding, and timely payment processing
Record, classify, and reconcile all financial transactions in accordance with nonprofit accounting standards
Partner with the Administrative Assistant to prepare, review, and record deposits, ensuring proper documentation, accuracy, and adherence to internal control procedures
Perform monthly bank and credit card reconciliations in a timely and accurate manner
Monitor cash flow and account balances to support operational decision-making
Maintain organized, audit-ready electronic and physical financial records
Track fixed assets and depreciation schedules in coordination with the external CPA
Support the development and maintenance of strong internal controls related to cash handling, payables, and transaction processing
Assist in identifying and implementing process improvements to increase efficiency, accuracy, and transparency in daily accounting operations
Budgeting & Financial Reporting
Assist the Executive Director with annual budget preparation and ongoing monitoring
Track actual revenue and expenses against budget
Prepare monthly financial reports for management and the Board of Directors
Provide variance analysis and financial insights to support decision-making
Develop and maintain key financial reporting tools and dashboards
Grant & Restricted Fund Management
Track restricted and designated funds in accordance with donor intent and grant requirements
Monitor grant expenditures and ensure compliance with funding guidelines
Assist with financial reporting for grants and funding partners
Ensure accurate tracking and documentation of donor-restricted funds
In-Kind Donation Tracking
Maintain accurate records of in-kind contributions and supporting documentation
Coordinate valuation and reporting of donated goods in accordance with nonprofit accounting standards
Assist with year-end reporting of in-kind donations
Payroll & CPA Coordination
Coordinate payroll data submission with external payroll provider
Record payroll journal entries and allocations
Track payroll summaries, reimbursements, and related financial entries
Prepare documentation for CPA, auditors, grantors, and other stakeholders as needed
Assist with annual audit preparation, financial statement support, and Form 990 filing process
Qualifications
Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience
Nonprofit accounting experience strongly preferred
Demonstrated experience implementing and managing QuickBooks Online
Experience with fund accounting, restricted funds, and grant reporting preferred
Experience working with external CPA firms, auditors, or financial consultants
Strong understanding of accounting principles, internal controls, and financial reporting
High level of integrity and discretion with confidential financial information
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial reporting tools
Comfortable working in a collaborative, small-team environment

We offer internships during the summer, fall and spring. Internships can be done through the local high schools for credit, or completely separate. Our internships offer a wide range of experiences in the non-profit world from the business standpoint to the program side of operations. Internships are available for high school and college students.
