Table Talk: 6 Months

Jenny’s quiet strength and kindness often go unnoticed at first glance. She first came to The Corner Table while caring for her mother, who had been given only a few months to live. With limited resources and time that felt uncertain, she needed a way to support her mother's health while keeping her engaged and connected.

"I could bring mother down here,” Jenny shared. “She was getting a nutritious meal, getting out of the house, getting her blood circulating.”

After her mother passed, Jenny faced her own challenges. Living on a limited income, even basic groceries became difficult to afford. "If you go to the grocery store, fruits and vegetables are crazy expensive," she said. Like so many others, Jenny needed more than a meal. She needed support, connection, and a place where she wouldn't feel alone.

The Corner Table became something more.

"They gave her 6 months to live, but she lived five and a half years," Jenny said. "I give credit to The Corner Table for the meals that kept her going."

Today, The Corner Table continues to support Jenny, providing meals and access to fresh food she couldn't otherwise afford. "I'm just so appreciative there's a place to go and get a good meal," she said. "And sometimes you even get to try things you've never had before."

Beyond the meals, she has found connection and purpose. A place where people listen, support one another, and remind each other they're not alone. Jenny now pays that forward, encouraging others to come and reminding them, "Everybody has needs. You never know when a little help will get somebody over the hump."

Because of your support, what began as a desperate search for help became a story of dignity, compassion, and hope. For Jenny, The Corner Table isn't just a place to eat. It's a lifeline.
